Cactus Flower by Uta Studio
This series explores the meeting point between sculpture and functional design. Carved from solid wood, the base gives the piece its grounding, while the upper form rises with sharp, flowing edges that follow the natural grain. The result is a balance between raw energy and quiet precision.
The top element is removable and can serve as a tabletop, a decorative platter, or a sculptural centrepiece. The deep red and black surface is finished using traditional Japanese Urushi methods, a lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree and valued for its depth and durability. Each piece is hand-carved in oak and finished with Japanese ink and beeswax, making every work unique in tone and texture.
Size: 32 cm x 32 cm x 31 cm
Condition: Each piece is handmade and unique, showing slight variations in shape, tone, and surface finish that are inherent to the making process.
