Maison Jansen Savonarola Armchair

€1,100.00

This chair is a refined example of French Mid Century design, drawing on the historic Savonarola, or curule, X frame form, reinterpreted through modern materials and proportions. The polished chrome structure gives the chair a light, architectural presence, balanced by the warmth of the leather.

The seat, backrest, and armrests are upholstered in original brown to burgundy leather, which has developed a deep, natural patina over time. The leather has been carefully rehydrated to restore flexibility while preserving its surface and colour. The chrome frame has been and polished, with signs of age consistent with the period.

Maison Jansen was founded in Paris in 1880 and became one of the most influential French interior houses of the twentieth century. Known for its work on prestigious international projects and for blending classical references with modern design, the firm produced furniture that was both decorative and forward looking. This chair reflects that approach, combining historical form with a distinctly modern finish.

Size: 49 cm x 56 cm x 89 cm

Condition: Vintage, some areas on the chrome present pitting , wear consistent with age.
