Vase by Patrick Carpentier
Patrick Carpentier is a Belgian artist whose practice in ceramics began during a residency in Hanoi in 2019, where he was confronted with the traditions of South Asian pottery. His work is inspired by Korean moon jars, Dogon jars from Mali, South African beer pots and archaeological finds from Brussels, connecting different histories of form. Writing is often the starting point of his process, with shape and surface becoming ways to explore memory, culture and the shared language of vessels. Each piece sits between utility and sculpture, carrying both timeless familiarity and contemporary presence.
This vase is made in black clay with a white glaze. The irregular surface and angular form highlight the contrasts in tone, giving the piece both texture and depth.
Each piece by Patrick Carpentier comes with a certificate of authenticity. Every work is unique, and natural irregularities or small cracks are part of the process, reflecting the character and integrity of the making.
Size: 30cm x 30cm x 35cm
