Side Table by Uta Studio

€1,150.00

This unique low table was created by Breno Caetano in collaboration with Claroscuro. It began with an old oak slab, preserved for its natural beauty and visible traces of time. Rather than disguising its imperfections, Breno worked to reveal and stabilise them, combining traditional Japanese joinery techniques with resin and inlay work.

The result is a piece that bridges repair and renewal, where every crack and patch becomes part of the composition. The surface shows a dialogue of woods — oak, walnut, and ash — each one inserted with precision to reinforce the structure and rhythm of the grain. The legs are made of solid wood, hand-shaped and finished with Japanese ink, giving depth and balance to the lighter tones above.

This table embodies Breno’s approach to design as a movement-based practice, guided by gesture, balance, and respect for material memory.

Size: 73 cm x 70 cm x 43 cm

Condition: The table has been restored and reworked by hand using traditional joinery. The natural irregularities and visible repairs are part of the piece’s design and character.
